Whether you are a returning guest, or a first time visitor, we know hotel accommodation is an important part of your TFNation planning. Please take a moment to read this post, which will tell you everything you need to know about staying at TFNation 2020.
1. Discounted rates
The Hilton Birmingham Metropole has again offered some brilliant discounts to TFNation attendees:
- £74.00 per night for single rooms, including breakfast.
- £84.00 per night for twin / double rooms / family rooms, including breakfast
Rooms at these rates usually sell out very quickly. So be ready to nab yours when they are released!
2. Family rooms
Family rooms are provided at the discretion of the Hilton. Please only book these rooms if you really need one, as many families depend on them. Family Rooms at our discounted rate are available from Thursday to Saturday night only.
3. When can I book my room?
TFNation tickets will go on sale at 12:00 Noon GMT on Saturday 15th February 2020. As soon as you have booked your ticket, our website will give you the option to click through to the Hilton hotel booking page.
4. Does it matter which type of ticket I buy?
No. Whether you buy a day ticket, a weekend ticket, or the Leader Package, you will still be given the option to click through to the Hilton hotel booking page.
5. Deposit
You will need to pay a deposit at the time of booking. This will be equivalent to the price of one night in your room.
This deposit will be non-refundable, and non-transferable. So it's really important that you only book the room if you are confident you will make the event.
You will not need to pay for the rest of your stay, until you are checking out of the hotel. The deposit will count as your first night, and then you will be asked to pay for the remaining nights.
6. Why is the deposit non-refundable?
In recent years, both the Hilton and TFNation have noticed some "room blocking". This is where a person reserves a room (or sometimes LOTS of rooms) and then cancels a day or two before the convention. This means other attendees miss out. We're sure you will agree, this isn't fair.
The non-refundable deposit is intended to deter people from booking a room unless they definitely want it, meaning others will have a better chance of getting their first choice room.
7. How does the booking system work?
The Hilton computer is smart, but it's no Teletraan-1. Think of it like a game of connect four. If you want a room for four nights, and all four nights are free, then the computer will be happy. But if ANY one of those four nights is not free, you'll get an error message.
The trick is to start small. Try one day at a time. By process of elimination, you'll see which day is the culprit! Book the nights you can - remember, you've got six months to fill any gaps!
Please also note that a maximum of two rooms can be booked at one time on the portal. Room availability changes depending on the number of rooms you purchase, so it may be better to book each room separately if you can.
8. Will TFN get any more rooms later?
This is unlikely and in part depends on the other events we are sharing the hotel with. Historically, we have always seen some cancellations in the first couple of weeks. So keep checking back because if somebody drops out, you may get lucky and find that room! You are free to keep checking right up until the weekend of the convention.
9. Alternatives
If you're not lucky enough to grab your preferred room at the Hilton, don't panic! You can still have a fantastic time! The NEC area has lots of hotels within a short distance of the convention, including a newly finished Hilton Garden Inn on the doorstep of the airport. We will have some information on our website to help you.
Pro-tip! Hotels usually reserve some rooms for public sale. So join Hilton Honors as a backup. Just remember to check the terms of any rooms you book, as they will be different to the TFN deal.
10. Parking
We've obtained a great discount for our attendees, with overnight resident's parking for just £9.00 per night, which mirrors the day rate. Think of all the Bot Bots you'll be able to buy with that saving!
11. Finally... please be nice!
Sales day is usually a very busy time, so our team will be working hard to answer all of your questions. All we ask is that you are understanding if there are any difficulties. Bedroom availability and the Hilton website are outside of our control, but we will try out best to help you. But the most important thing is to try not to feel anxious. Even if you don't get your first choice room, you've got plenty of time to plan your trip to TFNation and our lovely community are always happy to provide helpful tips, as are we!
TFNation 2020 will be held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel from 16th - 18th August 2019. We look forward to seeing you there!
