We offer complimentary Essential Companion tickets to those attendees who require additional support in the form of a carer in order to enjoy our events.
In order to offer this we need to first verify attendees suitability by asking that they provide some evidence of their need for substantial, significant or frequent support.
To apply for an Essential Companion Pass, please contact us at support@tfnation.com with details of why additional support is required, together with evidence to support your application, for our team to review.
Don't worry if you're not sure what to provide - our support team will help you through the process and explain what information may be appropriate.
Once we have received the necessary information, our support team will review your application and let you know the outcome as soon as possible. If your application is approved, the next steps differ slightly depending on the age of the attendee who requires support:
Attendees aged 16 and older should purchase their convention ticket(s) in the usual way and then reply to our approval email with their booking reference and the full name and date of birth of their Essential Companion. Our support team will then add the complimentary Essential Companion ticket to the booking.
Attendees aged 15 and younger benefit from reduced-price or complimentary tickets, depending on their age, and must already be accompanied at the event by a ticket-holding adult. Where a young person also qualifies for an Essential Companion Pass, the complimentary Essential Companion ticket would therefore ordinarily be provided to a second adult in the party. This is because the ticket-holding adult fulfils the event's normal supervision requirement, while the Essential Companion ticket is intended to provide the additional support required by the young person. The supervising adult and Essential Companion would therefore be different individuals, fulfilling different roles at the event.
Groups / families - we want to reduce barriers to attending our events and will provide Essential Companion tickets wherever they are reasonably required. However, approval does not automatically mean a separate complimentary Essential Companion ticket will be issued for every individual within a party who requires additional support.
We understand support needs vary significantly from person to person, and we will always consider each application on its own merits. Where more than one attendee in the same party requires support, we will consider whether their needs can reasonably be supported by the same Essential Companion. As one adult may ordinarily supervise up to three children at our events, a single Essential Companion may similarly be appropriate to support for more than one attendee in the same party.
Every application is considered on its individual circumstances, however, and we are very happy to consider the need for dedicated one-to-one support where the information provided shows that this is appropriate.
The evidence we accept includes:
TFN:Manchester is the name of one of our satellite events. Unlike our three-day Summer event, TFNation Manchester is held across one Saturday (with an optional, Friday evening entertainment ticket, for attendees who arrive early).
This event typically includes comicbook guests, traders, forge artists, panels and the chance to socialise with friends, all within a central location which is convenient for rail and road transport links.
TFN:Manchester is based at an intimate, but professional venue. It is a limited-capacity event which means there is a good chance tickets may sell out at the pre-order stage. This means we cannot always guarantee the availability of on-the-door tickets.
Yes! TFN:Manchester features a trading area filled with all different kinds of Transformers and other toylines. The event also includes a Forge area showing off fan arts and crafts!
Our Manchester event has grown in size over the years, from its Mini-Con beginnings, to something larger and more immersive, whilst still intimate compared to our summer offering.
Now the event is large enough to welcome several hundred Transformers fans, we have been able to secure an appropriately-sized venue which includes onsite hotel, bar, restaurant and professional conferencing facilities, at an affordable price for attendees. The more support these events receive, the more scope we have to improve facilities for our attendees.
Attendees have provided glowing reviews for this venue and we hope you'll love it too!
Owing to attendee feedback, we've added a Friday evening (non-trading) entertainment programme to TFN:Manchester's offering!
As for Friday day-time and Sunday - they're not in our plans right now, but we go where our attendees ask us to go. So if the demand for these additions exists, we'll investigate this for you in the future.
There is no overnight rate for attendees, given most will just attend TFN:Manchester as a day trip. That said, if you go to the Pendulum Hotel's website and use the code DELEGATE at checkout, you'll often find a special rate is available.
We're always mindful to choose venues in hotel-rich areas, with great transportation links, so if you do need accommodation, you needent be limited by the onsite bedroom capacity.
Yes! When purchasing your ticket, you will be given the option to pre-order exclusive TFN:Manchester merchandise for collection at the event, including our Tour Shirts and our Teddy Bear companion. Look out for additional offerings!
We don't anticipate having much extra merchandise to sell at the event, so be sure to get your pre-orders in to avoid missing out!
Yes! We're always keen to book venues with accessibility in mind.
Our Manchester venue is wheelchair friendlym aking great use of ramps and lifts.
Our Manchester venue takes place in an area where there are many public carparks within just a few minutes stroll of the venue; the venue is also able to provide a discount link for overnight residents at the nearest carpark.
It can be easily to accidentally mistake a free carpark for a paid one - so do be sure to check any signage nearby before parking. Checking ahead of time on the internet is always a good idea.
Our Manchester venue has a fully-stocked hotel bar and restaurant on the ground floor - "The Garden Bar", which serves a variety of dishes including vegetarian and vegan options, plus alchoholic and non-alchoholic drinks at reasonable prices.
Our Manchester venue is situated within a short walk of the vibrant Oxford Road area, containing many bars, restaurants and retail options - and of course, train stations!
We've designed TFN:Manchester as "all inclusive" ticket event. So once you've paid for entry, you're welcome to say hello to any guest and request an autograph on your own items, at no additional charge. We just ask you to please limit this to a couple of items, to give everybody a chance to meet the guests.
(Of course, each guest's requirements are different, so if this ever changes we'll let you know)
There are however, lots of other things you can buy inside, including prints and art commissions from guests; toys from traders; fan arts and crafts from the Forge - and of course, your convention merchandise from our desk!
TFNation's summer event includes a bedroom discount for attendees. Further information will be published in due course.
TFNation's smaller satellite events (such as TFN:Manchester) do not typically include a bedroom discount rate (indeed, some of our smaller events are not held at hotel venues)
If you are a VAT-registered individual or business and would like to request a VAT receipt for your recent TFNation purchase, please send a request by email to info@tfnation.com and we'll be happy to assist. Please use the subject line VAT Receipt so we can ask the correct team member to get back to you as soon as possible.
At TFNation, we support every attendee's right to be known by the name they feel most comfortable with; this can sometimes be different to the name displayed on their official identification documents (such as passports) for a variety of reasons, so we have included this section to provide a little guidance and explanation of our position.
As an events company, TFNation is sometimes asked to write letters to schools, workplaces and passport offices, confirming that a person has bought a valid ticket for one of our events. For this reason, we ask that your legal name is entered when purchasing a ticket, so we can verify your attendance if requested.
This is particularly important for international attendees, as when entering the UK you may be asked to show tickets to our event, with the name displayed matching the name on your passport.
Where you usually use a different name to the one shown on your official documents, we would encourage you to let us know by using the "notes" button (visible just under the name fields, on the ticket purchase screen). This will then appear on the screen our staff see, alongside your legally-recognised name, when you are checking in to our convention.
Please also note: for a variety of reasons, TFNation does not print attendees’ names onto their convention wristbands.
We hope this explanation will go some way towards reassuring attendees until such time as international laws reach a consensus on the kindest way forward.
