Operation: TFNation Social Meets
We are excited to today announce our plans to host the first TFNation social meets over the coming year!
WHAT IS A SOCIAL MEET?
It’s a great, free-to-attend, day out with friends – and friends you’ve yet to meet!
Those of you who have ever been to a London Social Meet (hosted for many years by community champion Matt Clarke) will know that meets are typically centred around a base of operations, such as a pub or hotel. They are a relaxed and friendly way to hang out with fellow fans for food, drinks, shopping and laughs. They’re also a perfect icebreaker for people who are still on the fence about attending their first convention.
Many members of the TFNation crew met at social meets and as such, they have a special place in our hearts. We strongly believe they represent the perfect way for new and old fans alike to make lasting friendships, in a relaxed and welcoming environment. After the support we were shown in our first year, we feel now is the perfect time to give something back to the community.
HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?
Whilst the TFNation crew will be involved in organising the meets, we will also be looking for volunteers with good local knowledge to help us to run the events.
You can also get involved by giving us your feedback to this post. We have already scouted various locations, initially across the UK and Ireland – and now we want your help! We would love to hear which locations you feel would be great for a meet, and why.
Whether it is at TFNation 2017, or a TFN social meet, we look forward to seeing you over the next year!
Further transmissions to follow.
